Quick Flanken- Style Sesame Brown Sugar Short Ribs

Sesame + Brown Sugar + Tamari ....love the salty + sweet combination. The sugar chars the outside of the ribs nicely + the thin fat marbled ribs are full of their own natural flavors with an added kick - don't forget the sesame seeds too.


I always love when I find the Flanken Style Ribs - short ribs are always good cooked on low for a LONG time BUT these are so thin they cook in no time at all but still taste great.


We can always use a little help in the kitchen. Not every recipe needs to have multiple steps + a laundry list of ingredients...That's why this one is great.

Quick Flanken- Style Sesame Brown Sugar Short Ribs


1 lb Flanken Style Short Ribs (they are longer + cut very thin)

2 tablespoons sesame oil

2 tablespoons brown sugar

3 tablespoons tamari or coconut aminos

1 tablespoon sesame seeds


Heat your grill or grill pan on high heat.


Path the ribs dry with a paper towel + place on a plate or shallow pan. Mix together the sesame oil, brown sugar + tamari in a small bowl. Cover the ribs with the mixture. Use your hands to coat both sides of the ribs. Cover with plastic wrap + marinate for 10-20 minutes or until your grill heats up.


Add then ribs in a single layer to your grill or grill pan. Cook for 1 minute + flip over. Cook for another 1-2 minutes. Remove from grill + let sit.


Garnish with sesame seeds. Serve with rice + vegetables.
